Description
FBS measures blood glucose after 8–12 hours of fasting to screen for diabetes or prediabetes and to monitor glycemic control. Elevated levels suggest impaired glucose metabolism and warrant follow‑up, including HbA1c or an oral glucose tolerance test. Fasting water is allowed; avoid tea, coffee or milk. This test is recommended for individuals with risk factors such as family history, obesity, hypertension or symptoms like frequent urination and thirst. Results help guide lifestyle changes and medication decisions.
